Quite lovely. Classic California cab, still had good tannic structure, chewy with a balance of fruit and earthiness - nothing pronounced over the other.

I don't know if I am losing my faith in Cabernet or any mid-range priced bottles lately ($40). Got this a few years ago and in truth Seavey was one of the initial wines that made me want to get into this crazy hobby. Anyway, I was hoping for a bit more elegance. However, it was still a powerhouse and quite a tongue scraper. I thought it was still a bit unbalanced and still needed some time or maybe was going through a dumb phase. Could have been better although I still have positive thoughts for Seavey.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
