Bob Foley fashions this wine from a small vineyard located at 1500 feet above sea level a few miles from Pride?s vineyards. For a California vineyard planted with something other than field blend varieties the vines are ancient - some of them are almost 50 years old. Foley ages the wine in French oak for 18 months before bottling it unfiltered. While Foley is known for making wines of sometimes massive girth, the School House Pinot shows considerable elegance. It has a light garnet color that is almost completely translucent. Strawberry, "stems", oak, some caramel, and very brul?ed cr?me brul?e scents. It sports a Burgundian profile but has lots of fruit to remind the taster it came from ripe fruit. Quite light with deft flavors and low but integrated acidity. Delicious.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
