Finally showing some maturity, but pushing the flavors and aromas to a new level, it's a new and delicious wine, complex and generous. Color: deep red core, brick edges that turn rose at the outer rim Nose: lush cherry, pungent blackberry and cassis, fall leaves, a slight hint of butter scotch, but it's just a subtle oak influence Palate: full and expansive, with the flavors persistent through a long finish, 45+ seconds, silky tannins and good complexity. The best Merlot from California for me, ever!

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
