Red Bordeaux Blend - Fifth Growth
Producer Notes

Located just outside the town of Pauillac, Chateau Lynch Bages is famous for its Cabernet-based wines, which typify the best of the appellation. Nose was classic earthy Bordeaux. Palate was typical Bordeaux but with occasional bursts of Napa type dark fruit that would quickly disappear. Rich with chocolate/coffee undertones. Interesting wine but lacked the depth and complexity of a stronger vintage. 92 pts.

Deep ruby red colored wine with a slightly gamy nose of toasty oak and spice. Nice oak and plum flavors on the palate. Reasonably plush but lacks the hedonistic qualities of the best Lynch Bages. Reminds of the 1978 Lynch. 73% Cabernet, 15% Merlot, 10% Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
