The bottle was opened and allowed to breathe for over an hour. The wine presented a dark ruby color in the glass with little viscosity on the swirl. On the nose, subtle fragrances of oak, pepper, and wet earth overshadowed the dark fruit. On the palate, tones of cherry and berries mingled gently with menthol. Overall, a mild disappointment. The medium body was angular and shallow, missing the fruit, tannin, and finish one would have expected.
