Declining from peak, is my guess. Very earthy nose. Truffles, leather, espresso, earth. Red, lightly bricking color. Silky texture. Light medium bodied.

This wine builds to lovely kirsch and casis on the palate. Medium bodied and complex. It needs an hour to open up but drinks beautifully.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
