Established in 1978, Greenock Creek is a tiny "boutique" Barossa winery with a production level of only 2,500 cases per year, owned by Michael and Annabel Waugh. Lots of tar, gravel and the lingering jammy finish that make the Alice's one of my fav barossas. That said, this was excellent, but not as good as the 2004. That surprised me frankly. Certainly an exceptional Shiraz, but I'd opt for other vintages over the 2001.

Inky in color. Medium rim variation. Medium legs. Gooseberry, Vanilla, Medium Toast, Tar on the nose. Vanilla, Blackberry, Black Pepper flavors. Medium/Full bodied. Satin-like texture. Medium finish.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
