Red Nebbiolo
Producer Notes

Delish red fruit and spice on the nose and more purple than I'd expect in the glass. Not the classic rusty red. This is big and rich and stood up well to a hearty lentil and lamb stew tonight. Fruit blooms in the mouth followed by some good acidity / tang then drying and lasting tannins. Tasty but not spectacular.

I don't know what to think about this wine. The tannins were so astringent and overbearing that it was tough to discern what might be underneath. For an 11 year old wine I am a little concerned that this will ever balance out; not because it's tannic but because the tannins are so dry. My score right now is optimistic based on the assumption that this will be long lived and balance out one day. We'll see...92?

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
