The current vintage is blended with a bit of Merlot; the aromas are dusty, ripe and supple with dark cherry, licorice, herb and spicy vanilla bean. On the palate the intensity becomes apparent in the mid palate where there is saturated cherry, anise with hints of cinnamon and smooth blackberry.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
