($42) Medium ruby. Vibrant, pure aromas of blueberry, blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. A sappy fruit bomb in the mouth, with flavors of pure crushed dark berries. Not especially complex but in a distinctly crowd-pleasing style. Finishes with good but not outstanding length and a touch of dryness.

Tons of fruit, but a little thin, almost watery, in the mid-palate after an immediate fruit attack. On the plus side, it's still fresh as a daisy -- maybe the plastic cork is paying off.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
