Low US Retail is updated twice a month and excludes outlier listings. Detailed listings are sourced daily from our partner, Global Wine Stocks, and may include outliers. Note that you can use the 'Report a problem' link which appears after clicking on any individual listing to notify our content team and partner of incorrect wine matches.

Auction prices are based on actual auction results (inclusive of buyer’s premiums) of 750ml bottle sizes only. As auction prices fluctuate from auction to auction and some wines have limited auction activity, the average auction price is updated twice a month and derived from a proprietary algorithm.

Producer Notes

In 1984, head winemaker Chester d'Arenberg Osborn, the fourth generation d'Arenberg to work the estate, ambitiously began revitalizing the old vineyards and cellars, investing in improvements that would propel the winery into the next century. White wine production began, to complement the winery's existing production of Shiraz, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, among other varieties. Being... More »

Dark, deep, inky, bold, Aussie shiraz. The nose has black cherry and black plum with a bit of wet soil. In the mouth, there's dark, bitter chocolate, dark fruit and cola. The flavors linger on the palate for several minutes and yet it's not at all cloying like some over-blown Australian shiraz wines. This wine is fantastic right now, but will last many more years. Wish I had more to try again in 5 or 10 years. One of the best Australian wines I've ever had.

Good paring with red meats. One of the more solid vintages to date.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
