A great wine. Very easy drink to drink. Everone wanted more but we only had one bottle.

Drink Dates 2001-2011

A blend of Sangiovese (93%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%). Firebreak has continued to show substantial improvement. Over the years, less and less Cabernet has been added to the blend. Less Cabernet has been needed as the Sangiovese improved. The 2001 is the finest Firebreak yet. A big nose of anise, cherry, and (a little too much) new oak. Full and rich in the mouth but with the high acidity that marks the best Sangiovese based wines. Smooth oak and tannins.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
