Red Bordeaux Blend - Second Growth
Producer Notes

The Second Growth classified estate of Leoville Las Cases continues to produce wines of exceptional quality, rivaling those of the First Growth producers. Bright, opaque red, thinning out towards the rim slightly. A seductive nose of cassis, blackberry jam, flowers, mineral, pencil shavings and oak. On the palate it shows high acidity that makes the mouth water followed by suede like tannin, quite viscous, all this bursting with dark berry fruit, very fresh and primary wine at 12 years old as can be expected from this Chàteau . Needs at least another 4-6 years to come into balance. Impressive length and structure.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
