Fermented in cement and raised in 50% new oak, the wine consists of a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot with the balance a blend of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Great color with slight pigmentation in the legs. Warm plum, a little anise, dark fruits, and oak in the nose. Hard tannins give way to surprisingly suave mouth feel, excellent acidity, and decent length.
A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
