($60; purchased as futures) Red-ruby. Claret-like aromas of black cherry, plum, currant, cocoa powder, loam, smoke and spice. Rich, dense and supple, with depth of flavor for the year and very good vinosity. Rather showy wine, with the characteristic medicinal-but-sweet flavors of Montelena. Tannins spread out nicely on the lingering finish.

Drink Dates 2003-2018

The dense purple-colored 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc) reveals a sweet perfume of black currants, an expansive, full-bodied palate, surprising elegance as well as accessibility, excellent purity, and a long, layered finish. It is a successful 2000 Cabernet to drink now and over the next 12-15 years.

Notably ripe, plush and fleshy for the vintage, exhibiting ripe blackberry and plum flavors that are concentrated and well-focused, finishing with a nice burst of fruit flavors, with modest tannins. 8,300 cases made.

After decanting for about an hour, this big cab drank very well. The tannins in this wine were velvelty smooth, and I wished I had another bottle. Good fruit and a lingering finish. Does its pedegree justice.

Deep ruby red, interesting nose of berries and spices with a wonderful long lingering finish for 90 to 120 sec. Really nice wine, have had 6 others over five years getting better with age

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
