A fantastic representation of St Julian. Chassis and dark fruits, lavender, leather and earthy tones. Still very fresh and vibrant, the tannins have softened and the wine is very well balanced. Should continue to develop for a few years yet.

Amazingly acidic and lots of tannin for a 11 year old wine. Acidity/tannins were however, nicely balanced. Lots of red berries, dark chocolate and a little vanilla. This is going to be a great wine, try again mid 2012. I drank this wine when it was much younger ~5 years ago and it seemed more ready then .. strange !

Drink Dates 2014+

Fruit forward nose, cherry and leather. Very well balanced, medium sweetness with a taste of raisins and leather. Tannins still a little strong, but drinking nicely. Will get better. On the nose dark fruits with a cherry undercurrent and hints of cedar and leather. Cherry pops in the mouth behind big tannins, young with no finish at this time

If it is possible to be under the radar and still be a second growth then this wine does exactly that. Great color with lots of exuberant fruit and new oak. Strong primary aromas of cassis, blackberry, and toast. Californian in orientation with tons of upfront flavors. Drink 2007 (to catch the fruit) to 2018.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
