Auction prices are based on actual auction results (inclusive of buyerÂ’s premiums) of 750ml bottle sizes only. As auction prices fluctuate from auction to auction and some wines have limited auction activity, the average auction price is updated twice a month and derived from a proprietary algorithm.

Drink Dates 2009-2029

Retail purchase held several years. Decanted 2 hours. Absolutely gorgeous wine, and a can't miss Margaux fragrance. Medium bodied, elegant, but long and complex. Red fruit, well balanced. Peak of youth is now. Can go another 10+ years but why wait? This is a wonderful 2000 vintage and even at $65-75 a special value today. I rate the 2005 just ahead.

still young-ish. Strong barnyard notes, somewhat light on the midpalate, good finish with savory/mineral tones. still very restrained, probably needs a few more years

Opened this early in the morning and left it to breathe until mid-afternoon. Inky in color. Medium legs. Relatively reserved nose highlighted by leather and smoke. On the palate, smooth, mellow notes of coffee and spice, rich tannins but totally integrated. Nothing to distract from the combination of fruit, oak, and tannin - well balanced, elegant.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
