the 1999, 1997 and 1996 were outstanding -- earning 94, 95 and 92 points, respectively. The 1999 was particularly impressive for the vintage. It was superbly focused and beautiful on the nose, with sugared lemons, tropical fruit and maple syrup character. Full-bodied and thick, yet very fine, it was extremely sweet and long.

Added
Added a bottle of 1999 Yquem today at a nice cost basis.  It's a vintage I haven't owned so it fit nicely into the empty slot in the collection.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
