Just south of Livorno, Tuscany, lies the Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, and the Tenuta San Guido estate, where Sassicia is produced. The estate was originally owned by Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta, and has been managed since WWII by his son, Niccolo. took a bit to open up...very subtle notes of berrys, tobacco, elegant finish with tannins still in evidence paired with a lovely tomato pumpkin sauce over linguine...sadly, I don't think it gets better from here...

Dead!! Flabby, over the hill already with absolutely no vibrancy. Had a friend bring one of theirs - same year - same result. This has happened several times with nebbiolo - I don't believe they are age-worthy beyond 5-6 years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
