Located in the appellation of Saint-Julien, Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is named for the beautiful large stones and pebbles that cover the vineyard. A lovely wine, great fruits with an undertone of fennel. Lovely silky tannins ... I still prefer Poyferre, but this was a lovely wine to drink

Firm and silky red, with spices, berries and cinnamon. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and a medium finish. Very good Ducru. Best from 2003 through 2007. 17,500 cases made. (JS)

Dark purple core leading to brick-red rim. Wet earth, truffles, dark berry fruits. Silk and smooth, with pinpoint balance. Tannins there but just enough for grip. A true claret in the classic sense with its dark cherry, cassis and iron undertow. A very well made wine.
