Red Rhone Blend
Producer Notes

Chateau Beaucastel, run by the Perrin brothers, is regarded as one of the best estates of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. At 131 hectares of vineyards, it is also one of the largest estates in the region. It is atypical of the appellation in its production techniques. It is one of three estates to produce and vinify all 13 grapes permitted under the regulations of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Also, unlike most... More »

Exotic plum and red fruits, licorice, mint and sandalwood spice aromas and flavors. The palate is medium bodied, medium to fine tannin with very good length.

Very pleasing mature CDP. Dried red berry fruit at its core with white pepper and baking spices showing through on the finish and adding complexity. Medium bodied with full integrated, polished tannins. Long, lingering finish.

Retail purchase, opened on delivery. Perfect cork. Beautiful nose - resin, warm stone, and red dried cherry. Medium bodied, taut and linear. Nice length, love the evolution of this 1998. Not a rich deeply fruited bottom, but very satisfying, like a lean fire grilled flank steak. Still evolving. Love it.

Lots of fruit on the nose. High in tannin. At around the 1 hour mark, the fruit began to die and the tannins really revealed themselves. Excellent wine, would last another 10 years.

Very nice, well balanced, smooth, but with a slightly pruny aftertaste that is a touch sweet for me. Shows no sign of fading

Had two bottles last night. there was moderate bottle variation even thought they were from the same and stored in the same place, We structured, fruit forward with a long finish. Very good mouth fee. One bottle had significantly less fruit on the nose with less mouth feel.

A stark contrast to the ?95, this vintage?s pleasure driven personality is exuberant and explosive w/ just about every sensation a Grenache thrill seeker could ask for. Ripe, luxuriously rich notions of black forest cake, kirsch liqueur soaked Provencal herbs and roasted figs command the taster?s attention immediately. The wine is full and decadent in the mouth, w/ plush, boisterous character that would fool just about any Beaucastel purist in a blind line-up. A total knock-out,

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
