Welcome back to earth, how good it feels to be home! An absolutely gorgeous performance, laced w/ tobacco, pepper, tilled earth, sweet spice, strawberry pie, plum sauce and coffee notes that just won'tquit. In the mouth, the wine is beautifully on point, with plush layers of sumptuous fruit that pay homage to the purity and essence of Grenache. Usseglio?s Mon Aieul in top vintages is surely an experience that all Southern Rhone lovers need to experience on multiple occasions

Mouth-watering, chewy, and long-lasting, this is one delicious CDP. More red than blue, showing a little age, and decanted for about 1/2 hour so far, the smoky and spicy nose does not adequately prepare you for the complex palate -- red fruit, garrigue, lithe nimble and bright, with that great biting acidity smooth tannins, and a finish that pushes well over 45 seconds. I was not prepared! Another great 1998 presenting well 10 years after. One left.
