Ridge Vineyards, known for its stellar reds, began when San Francisco doctor Osea Perrone bought 180 acres of land near the top of Monte Bello Ridge in California's Santa Cruz Mountains. Deep reddish purple. Dark fruit and earth on the nose. Narrow on entry with fruit notes expanding mid-palate. Sharp, medium, slightly acidic finish with furry tannins. Not bad but wouldn't seek to buy again. 50+9+7+16+7=89

Wow, wow, wow. This is what cali cabs should aspire to be. Soft and pure. The austerity and complexity of a top bordeaux but with the soft, ripe (not sweet) fruit that cali can bring. Deep aroma's of truffles, chocolate, cigar that although intense, were not explosive or overpowering. It sat perfectly in my mouth coating my entire mouth in soft, silky lusciousness. On the finish it slowly melted away over a prolonged time. Wow.
