Saturated ruby. Brooding aromas of blueberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, licorice and meat; showed more sweetness with aeration. Juicy, intensely flavored and quite penetrating, with brisk flavors of crystallized black and red fruit firmed by strong acids. Rather folded in on itself today and not showing its density. Finishes with substantial but ripe tannins and sneaky sweetness.

The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of pure cassis and blackberries with flinty notions in the background. Full-bodied, powerful, tannic, pure, and backward, it needs another 8-10 years of cellaring.

Sharply focused, with a pretty beam of plum, currant and black cherry flavors, framed by spicy, cedary oak and finishing with dry tannins. 1,956 cases made.

Classic Randy Dunn winemaking. Maturing nicely but still has room to grow in complexity.

Round and fleshy; tannins have mellowed quite a bit; soft and very accessible wine. Very fruity for an 11 year old Dunn. Color showing some age with brick/orange-tinged at the edge. Drink over the next 3-4 years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
