An impressive wine that would have gotten an even higher rating if it had not shown so much toasty new oak, this tannic 1997 reveals a fine texture as well as a wealth of sweet, jammy black currant fruit infused with smoke, mineral, and leather. Medium to full-bodied and backward, it needs 3-4 years of cellaring, and should keep for 10-15 years. No telephone listing available.
