Three cuvees: 25-35 year old vines, 45-50, & "old vines" (60-80). Consistent tasting notes. Fine dark color; very profound nose; very concentrated; lots of structure - the tannins are round & ripe but still a little firm & tight (this wine always needs time in bottle to resolve its tannins); powerful; some new oak; excellent fruit; just starting to drink well and will hold for many more years with plenty of fruit to last.
A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
