Red Bordeaux Blend - Fifth Growth
Producer Notes

Located just outside the town of Pauillac, Chateau Lynch Bages is famous for its Cabernet-based wines, which typify the best of the appellation. The estate is classified as one of eighteen Fifth Growths from the official 1855 classification; many experts, though, would argue that its quality merits it a place among the Second Growths. Best of the evening for me. Should decant. Ripe dark berry fruit and crème de cassis. Still some grip to the tannins but fine grained and integrating well. Good rounded mouthfeel. Medium to full-bodied with a lengthy, flavorful finish.

Showed the classic Pauillac black cherry cigar box fragance, but the midpalate was surprisingly hollow and the finish short. Acidity was relatively high, but the wine was still serviceable. That said, I would drink all remaining bottles soon, or risk overaging them. At this point, some bottles might be drinking better than others.

We decanterd this wine for 4 hours and the tanin was virtually gone and the wine was fabulous. It has a deep ruby red color wnd is extremely full bodied and powerful.

A wine that continues to improve with age. Shows loads of ripe plum, almost prune, with hints of vanilla and mineral. Full, chewy and tight. Still needs time.--Lynch-Bages non-blind vertical. Best after 2008.

Vinfolio purchase held 2.5 years. Faultless textbook mature Pauillac. Decanted 2 hours;well structured, leather, briar, black fruit and forest. Excellent length. Faithful, no drama, and terrific with roasted rack of lamb. A great reason to collect. Drink or hold 10 years, it's fine!

Drank 12/06. Compared poorly vs 1982 as still much too young. Look up when to drink!

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
