Perched, quite ideally, on the Pomerol plateau smack in between the vineyards of Petrus and L'Evangile, Chateau Gazin traces its origins back to the Middle Ages. Medium ruby-red core, semi-opaque, fading to pink at rim, no signs of browning. The nose tells a different tale, old church wood, tree moss, wet leaf, dried berry fruit, perfume , dried roses. Medium-bodied, medium+ tannin, and high acid. There is a bit of fruit peaking through all that blackberry and dried cherries, the wine although dry holds a bit of sweetness in the mouth, no doubt precipitated by its fruit character, finish is a bit disappointing, overall considering that it comes from a rather difficult vintage this wine has held up and offers a pleasant drinking experience
