Beautiful bouquet but a little hot and tart on the palate. Not my favorite vintage of Opus One. This pales in comparison to the 1994 and 1995.

Pretty deep garnet. Beautiful nose of t and a with black cherries coffee spice and earth. Smells like a blend of ca and bordeaux. Long ripely tannic finish with good acidity. Only flaw is a slightly hollow mid palate. Very good ca cab. *** / *****

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
