Drink Dates 2003-2015

Black-blood red colored slightly cloudy wine with a big almost Burgundian nose of boiled calamari, dark plum, herbs, deep dark fruits, dark cassis, and bitter chocolate. Richly elegant with plenty of power and excellent length. Drink now to 2015. Really quite Burgundian in profile ? and that is far from a criticism.

1991 Harlan out of Magnum
At a recent Vinfolio staff meeting we blind tasted the 1991 Harlan out of magnum. I thought it was very well balanced and showed strong fruit on the palate despite the apparent aging suggested by the the rim variation. My guess...

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
