White Champagne Blend
Producer Notes

Dating back to 1743, Moet & Chandon is the largest and most recognized champagne brand and producer in the world. Dom Perignon, its most famous label, took its name from the Benedictine monk whom legend claims was the first to produce the sparkling beverage we know as champagne. The company was founded by Dutchman Claude Moet, who originally shipped wine to Paris to supply the royal... More »

Pale color. Youthful aromas of lemon, quince, pear, toast, spice, chalk and red berries. Big, sweet and seamless, if a bit clenched in the early going. A powerful, very young wine whose fruit builds slowly in the mouth and explodes on the finish. A charry note contributes to its complexity. Possesses amazing depth of fruit, but the high quality of this wine can most easily be seen today on the extraordinary finish. May ultimately merit a 95+ rating.

Very rich and evolved now. Perhaps not the ideal aperitif champagne - better served with substantial food such as lobster?

The profoundly rich 1990 Dom Perignon is a creamy-textured, full styled offering that loses none of its elegance in spite of its flavor authority. It will improve for 5-10 years, and appears capable of surpassing the fabulous 1985 and 1982. It seems obvious that the quality of the 1990 Champagne vintage is going to be remarkable, and the world-wide demand will be unprecedented. The message - buy them now!

Very youthful and elegant with typical Dom Pérignon finesse. It will be a pleasure to follow the internal development of the '88 and '90. A great debut for Richard Geoffroy! Toasty coffee aromas in magnum, and like a great Chablis grand cru in regular bottle.

Fans of bold wine will love this Champagne. It's made in a full-bodied, assertive style that blends overt toasty, earthy aromas with bracing, dry fruit flavors and a robust but smooth texture.

Light golden yellow color with lots of those little bubbles. Butter with slight herbs (in a pleasant way) and a lot of yeast. Balanced flavors and acidity, nicely smooth and very easy to drink. The previous writer who mentioned a brioche hit it dead on. Very enjoyable and likely has a lot of life ahead if stored well. Cheers.

Still a youthful light yellow color; very good fine bubbles; lovely yeasty richness on the palate w/a rounding of the flavors from age; delicious and on pointe now.

Past due. Dark caramel color and lacking sufficient bubbles. Still interesting and drinkable.

Color: Dark and rich gold color Boquet: Biscuity, caramel, some lemon zest essence, wonderfully complex with many secondary aromas of yeast, minerals and some oak influence Palate: Bready and yeasty biscuit and brioche. Some mellow citrus with slatey mineral flavors, great acidity and a supe long finish. This is a seriously complex champagne.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
