OMG. Aromas of rose petals and camphor right out of the bottle. After two hours of air, the red fruits and blueberry come forward on the palate with some secondary flavors beginning to show. The finish doesn't stop. This is my wine of the year for 2009.

If you have a bad bottle because it is corked, cooked, or otherwise damaged, you should say so. When so many people give this a 100 point rating, there's just no sense to an 80 point assignment. If you can't recognize a bad bottle and distinguish it from a bad wine, you should not be rating wines.

I've had this wine three times, the first in '97, beutiful because of its potential but too young, the other two this past year. The next time it was very nice but suddenly, after being opened four hours, everything changed. It exploded in flavor like a nuclear bomb. In forty years of drinking wine, it is the best wine I've ever tasted.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
