1990 Haut-Brion Bordeaux Blend - France - Bordeaux - Pessac Leognan - Red - First Growth

This is much lighter in color than I would have imagined, barely opaque fading considerably towards the rim after 2 hours in the decanter. The nose is intense, violets, blackberry, blueberry and very ripe blackcurrant, pen ink, clove, slightly tertiary showing pine needle and wood. The first impression on the palate is of balance, it's perfect. Very ripe fruit which gives this wine a sweet note followed by gentle oak influence, medium-bodied, velvety tannin and medium+ acidity. This wine leaves an impression of perfection on the palate, elegant, this bottle has entered maturity and will probably dink well 2013- 2023, good length on the finish. Superb

One of the best Haut Brion's we have had yet. Better then the 79 or 82 (so far). The nose is incredibly complex and smacks you in the face with leather, spices, dark fruits and other earthy, smoky ingredients. in the mouth it is full bodied, rich, luxurious and ultimately extremely classy. It is the finest expression of HB yet and I think it is at its apex with no sign of letting up anytime soon

Soft, deep earth and mushrooms. velvelty on palette and extra long finish.
