Drink Dates 2015-2025

Consumed at All Acqua with HJ. Server had trouble with the rotted cork and decanted it in a Riedel. Slight Chinese medicine smell, very much like the 1985 Margaux, except not as intense as the Margaux. Taste was very smooth, with a more grippy tannic finish than I expected (good thing) for such an old wine. Even though the CT drink date is 2015, I think this can improve for at least 10+ more years. The finish was very long and lingering. Excellent wine that reminded me much of the pricier 1985 Margaux. I would have liked a more expressive bouquet on this Conseillante and more complexity. The nose did not seem to evolve much during the course of the meal.

This is getting better and better. My previous notes are unchanged with the exception of additional layers of complexity. This wine remains a stunner.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
