popped and poured out of 375mL; drank over the following 3 hours. Dark garnet. gorgeous nose of cassis, dark, black fruits, earth and spice. just smells like a great pauillac. still quite tannic, but there is great balance between the tannins, acidity, and underlying material. long, long finish. always a great performer.

Wine had a red amber hue as expected. After 20 years the tanins had mellowed and yet the wine was still robust and full of spice, chocolate and black cherry flavor yet subtle. A hint of tobacco and anise on the palate. Still a winner.

Jet black in color; blackberries and plums on the nose; a bit of wood. All in all, good-to-great wine, drinking well now.

Drank at Chez Spencer with Todd and Yoko Narter. Not a super memorable wine, but a solid one that should be served with food rather than on its own. Definitely does not hold a candle to the '89 comtesse. probably would not buy any more at $250. Can get some very good st. julien with the same age for 30% cheaper.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
