After a 2 hour decant, and consumed over 6 hours. Still showing great, deep color after 27 years. Garnet at the edge. Nose is memorably complex mix of tar, mushrooms, forest floor, very earthy evolving to dark chocolate, ripe cherries, leather, hints of lavender and licorice. Well balanced, silky tannins. Lots of dark chocolate, raisins, bing cherry, becoming more supple, floral, candied with hints of roasted bone marrow.

Decanted for 3.5 hrs prior to serving. Dark crimson with just a touch of lightening at the rim. What a gorgeous nose. Filled with tar, earth, sour cherry and t and a. In the mouth, it has great structure with the electric acidity balanced by the still robust tannins and a compelling sweetness. Long, long finish. Over time the nose became even riper and showed hints of tobacco as well. Very impressive showing. Wine was great with extended air time - i imagine there's even more to come over the next 5-10 yrs.
A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
