Red Bordeaux Blend - Fifth Growth
Producer Notes

Located just outside the town of Pauillac, Chateau Lynch Bages is famous for its Cabernet-based wines, which typify the best of the appellation. The estate is classified as one of eighteen Fifth Growths from the official 1855 classification; many experts, though, would argue that its quality merits it a place among the Second Growths. this wine was likely better ten years ago, but amazingly it is still drinking fine. a bit musty with some barnyard undertones it still is balanced with just enough fruit to go perfectly well with dark chocolate, cheese or roast duck. drink now or forever hold your piece.

This wine is the most complete Lynch-Bages that I have ever tasted. I thought the 1985 was suberb, but the 1982 adds another dimension that eclips all other vintages in this stage of evolution. It exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color, as well as a knock-out nose of minerals, licorice, cassis, and an unmistakable lead pencil smell that reminds me of top Lafite vintages. It is rich yet no sense of heaviness. I tasted a ting of sweetness of black currant and a hint of blackberry in its flavor profile. What an awesome Lynch-Bages. My favorite vintage ever tasted.

Tasted at the Acker BYOB. Red berrys, leather and spices in that smoky lych Bages mix that is so lovely. Ready to drink no and for a very long time.

Very well balanced, but also very brett-driven. Thus, too much Band-Aid aroma to enjoy it.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
