Deep, dark ruby red. Still looks very youthful. Fresh, powerful nose with intense aromas; sweet blackcurrant fruit, smoke, graphite and cedar. Ripe smooth tannins, velvety texture balanced with fresh acidity. Concentrated and persistent fruit on the palate; has a vibrant freshness to the flavours. Scented leafy blackcurrant, tobacco and a lovely earthyness. Smoky vanilla on the fantastically long finish. Amazing.

Harmonious, multi-layered and delicious. Good structure with elegant, ripe mid palate. Many lingering notes of coffee, tobacco and spice. Not the perfect wine it was once advertised as yet very fine. Likely v good drinking for many years to come.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
