very attractive color, nice nose, big fruity flavors. seems like it will be great in a few years. a real price performer. better than the 2000 reserve (which costs 50% more)

Tasted at EWS 2001 Bordeaux tasting in NYC. All wines were poured blind. Three flights, one of 5 wines, one of 4 and another of 4. Margaux finished 2nd of the 13 wines. This is a monumental wine. Everything you would expect from a classic Ch. Margaux vintage. Such balance, such finesse, sexy, sexy, sexy. Sure it's a little closed now, but the first sip told you this was something special. Run out and buy what you can find! I sure did!

Forward fruit, yet enough tannins to let it last. Very nice.

Great nose, black cherry and smoke were very present, but also grim (austere?). Acidic and hot. Either waaay too young, or just not a smooth wine.

with Scallops in lemosgrass broth Shrimp on a bed of lettuce nad heirloom tomatoes.

Nose - alcohol - light fruit - leather or something like it. Easy water like consistency. Tannins hit aftertaste. While drinking, nothing major as far as stand out flavors. Berry - slightly unripe after taste. Not real fruit forward. Drank it with Turkey, Dressing, Sweet potato. Didn't hold up well with food. More of a non-food wine, except for the after taste of tannins.

A classic (?) burgundy. Great Pinot cherry nose with lots of French stuff: minerals, earth, tar. Not heavy, but plenty of fruit balanced by solid tannins on the finish. Perfect with pork chops. This MUST breathe for 30 mins or so -- it's pretty closed and simple upon opening. Delicious!!

Much more direct and linear in character with rather linear though not hard or angular flavors that just ooze minerality and this is extremely fresh, even fresher than the Pommard. Wonderfully intense on both the black fruit nose and the medium full, sappy, wonderfully precise flavors and this displays terrific length. As good a villages level Nuits as you're likely to see.

Dry riesling but with a touch of residual sugar. Good acidity. Can probably last a few years. Visit my website: The Wine Collector
