Blonde in color. Medium rim variation. Slow legs.

Phenomenal. Gorgeous front to back with a dry finish. Outside of the Montebello, this is the nicest Ridge we have ever tasted.

Apparently the varietal make-up of this wine will never mirror the 1999, as the winery ceased to used Sangiovese in the cepage after this vintage. Boy was this wine in my wheelhouse! Spanish cedar, roasted tobacco, rosemary, porcini and a truckload of fruit present themselves in a truly astounding nose (god these 99?s had it goin? on?what a vintage!). Wondrous depth and richness was found within the spicy palate of pure blackberry ganache fruit that had a near-perfect presence in the mouth which, for lack of a better word, was sinful! While the wine lost a bit of steam on the finish, it was so glorious that I can'thelp but vote w/ my heart and score it 97 points. Life?s too short to not stash away a couple bottles of this elixir! Rich, took a while to open up but worth the wait. Balanced, stately.

One of those wines that shocks you. Still lots of fizz in this 20+ year old California sparkler with honey and dried apricot on the perfectly aged bouquet. Hard to believe, but beautiful.

Excellent taste. Good fruit and merlot chocolate taste. Very smooth, little tannis.

The quintessential elegant, ageable, yet vibrant and powerful California Cabernet. Tasted from a half bottle in a Riedel Sommelier Grand Cru Bordeaux. Opaque black red color with thin moderately colored legs. A strong developing nose of dill (blew off after about an hour), dark chocolate, black cherries, graham crackers, the cookie part of an Oreo, cassis, some sage, and some spearmint (really an ever-changing nose which is a hallmark of the best wines). Lots of dark chocolate, cassis, and slight toast on the palate framed by strong tannins and high but well balanced acidity. The wine has a very long finish.

Wow! This wine sizzles on the tongue. A beautiful Deep dark purple, and a long persistent finish!

Huge nose, nice spice notes, earth. Awesome mouth feel, very lush. Long finish. Highlight of vertical tasting.

This is one of the best I've tasted because although there is a full bodied, chewy, spicy, and rich feel to it there is no bite and a long finish.

Whacked in the face with cooked honey, toffee, creme brulee, freshly scooped vanilla icecream, and some coconut...with underpinnings of tropicality. Viscous and mouthfilling with a honeyed 45 second finish.

Beautiful, mature sauterne. Breeding, balance and plenty of elegant character. Will probably not get any better than it is now.
