>	12/01/2005	2001 Querciabella - Batar Proprietary Blend Italy - Tuscany 2001 Querciabella - Batar	90 Deep yellow with scents of lemon oil, flint, honey, some vanilla, and spicy oak. Good acidity with plenty of oaky fruit flavors. Nice length with some chalk turning up at the end. This wine grows on you and eventually demands your respect. The 2001 is a blend of 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Blanc that was entirely fermented in barrique. All of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in French oak (50% new and 50% one year old) that is sourced primarily from Tron?ais and Vosges but some Allier is used as well. Very long finish, would have benefited from a few more years of aging, but this 2001 single vineyard Montosoli was a great comparison to the 1990 Argiano and 1990 Talenti we drank that night also.
