This wine is a blend dominated by Shiraz but with plenty of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot thrown in after it. Frankly, leaving the Shiraz alone results in a much better wine. Blood red nearly opaque wine with lots of thin legs showing moderate coloration. A rather funky (Brett) nose of milk, dark fruits, slight pepper, chocolate, and stone (the dreaded Merlot lot making its presence felt.) Sweet fruit on the palate but the excessive acidity makes the wine taste disjointed and out of whack. The wine finishes for a reasonably long time with plenty of acid, creamy oak, and charcoal. Not much going on with this cuvee ? they probably dreamed it up as a way to (unsuccessfully) hide the Merlot.

Clearly the weakest link in Marquis Philips? portfolio. Absent the marketing driven need for having something with "Merlot" written on it I question why this wine is even produced. Dark red colored wine with a Brett filled nose of sweat socks, mint, leather, and plum. Much better on the palate where attractive creamy oak flavors dominate leading to diffuse fruit and oak flavor on the finish. A wine to drink while holding one?s nose. Drink now.

Purple in color. Medium legs. Raspberry. Blackberry, Cinnamon. Medium/Full bodied. Silky texture. Medium finish.

Always a good wine for an everyday affair.

Very nice Austrailian blend. Lots of fruit, mainly black cherry and black berry. Very nice mouthfeel with encreadibly soft tannins.

Deep purple with slight fade towrds rim, and medium thick legs. Meaty, vanilla, plum, nose with light black pepper and lush anise. Med-heavy mouthfeel withh noticeable alcohol that didn't distract from the taste. Soft tannins framed flavors of cherry, vanilla, blackberry, light spice and an overall lush richness.
