Clearly the weakest link in Marquis Philips? portfolio. Absent the marketing driven need for having something with "Merlot" written on it I question why this wine is even produced. Dark red colored wine with a Brett filled nose of sweat socks, mint, leather, and plum. Much better on the palate where attractive creamy oak flavors dominate leading to diffuse fruit and oak flavor on the finish. A wine to drink while holding one?s nose. Drink now. |

Color out to the rim with moderately thick and colored legs. Chocolate, coffee, candied cherry and plums, some game, and oak aromas with a fair amount of heat as well. Nicely viscous and mouth coating with good depth of flavor and fine acidity. Quite a bit of a burn on the finish. A supple and appealing wine for drinking over the short term. Given past vintage performances with this varietal, I was pleasantly surprised at how drinkable the 2004 Merlot has turned out to be. Closed with a screwcap. |

This wine once opened holds incredibly well when kept very cold (winter garage!) and second time seems to even have developed a new set of flavor eperiences. I'm still impressed with Jacob's Creek chards!. |

Smooth drinkable Shiraz, not the big bombs that you sometimes expect. Paired well with pork chops. |

Golden with a watery rim. Classic apricot and honeyed botrytis aromas. Very forward. Rich and concentrated but not cloying because of the good acidity. Sweet white-stone fruits and a hint of raisin on the finish. Smooth, sweet and delicious. Excellent value. |

A very nice Shiraz for the money. Keeps well for the next day. Strong, but not overbearing. |

This bottle was very bitter. Not sure if it was a bad bottle or my tastes have changed. This used to be my favorite wine. |
