Fairly dark, spicy, good fruit at first, but developed some off aromas with air. Nice mouthfeel though, and a decent wine.

Translucent black cherry red with thin surprisingly dark legs. Aromas of mint, bits of earth and anise, bitter chocolate, chalk, and tart dark fruits. Acidity is on the high side. Some volatile acidity noted. 90% Nero d'Avola and 10% Perricone. Drink now.

Deep rich, stone fruits, cherry and chocolate, smooth long tannic finish. Just slightly lighter than what we prefer.

Blend of the Sicilian varietals Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera. Turpentine, ash, alcohol, and plum on the nose. Tannins attack the front palate and lay heavily on the tongue. Full mouth finish. Not sure if this wine will calm down and structure itself with time.

Don Antonio is Morgante?s top of the line Nero. It hails from vineyards planted in 1970 and 1975 that yield less than a ton and a quarter per acre. Deeply colored with a full and very attractive nose of smoky plum, oak, some grapefruit, tart cherry, chalk, and leather. Quite rich in the mouth with plush tannin. Good length finishing primarily with new oak. Acidity is high but integrated - a civilized Nero. It received a years worth of aging in small French (Troncais and Allier) oak. Riccardo Cottarella minimally handles this wine and bottles it unfiltered.

Still darkly colored with sharp aromas of RAID and smoldering plastic. Surprisingly plush in the mouth will full flavors of slightly raisny plum and raspy oak. Way past its prime but still drinkable if one has to. Five years ago this was a really quite good modern styled Syrah.
