Cheri liked it alot. Soft, well rounded. Rich but not overpowering at all. Sweet notes of light charcoal, anise, berries and a smooth finish. Great with of course Italian lasagna. 1 of 1 people found this useful |

6/17/05- Had this with lamb at our place with Aly and John. Perfect balance, with tons of cinnamon once it opened up. We didn't decant, but I would for an hour next time. This wine only got better in the glass and we just ran out of steam. Drink the othe Barbs any time. |

Full ruby-red. Deep, ripe aromas of currant, black cherry and violet; strongly fruity and floral. Thicker and more concentrated than the Basarin; a broader, deeper wine with more stuffing. Here the substantial, chewy tannins come across as riper and less dry. |

5/3/05- Had with Phil before Springsteen. Pure strawberry pie. Lots of acide and tannin but I'd drink the other sooner rather than later. Definitely brownish orange and aging well. |

9/5/04- Had at Luques after decanting it for about 4 hours. This rocked. Was a still a fruit bomb when I first opened it. Still balanced with fruit and acid when we drank it and couldn't get enough of it. |

5/7/05- Had at a pinot tasting at Barton's to try and fool everyone. Lots of strawberrys, asian spices, peaches, nutmeg, cloves. 2/6/05- Had at 310 with the Garbs and this really came around. Did not decant it and after about 45 minutes in the glass it started to kick ass. Lots of cinnamon and chocolate and fresh berries. Was much more impressed this time around than before. Not sure what to do about the decanting situation. -- 9/19/04- Had at La Terza after decanting for a couple hours and it held it's own. Still lots of acid and fruit, lots of shit in the bottle, drink now but give it air. |

5/14/05- Had with Damien and Caroline at Mako. Same notes as before. 12/24/04- Certainly not a great wine. Drinkable but after the cola nose, there's not a lot left. Drink now. 2/16/04 Good stuff. Great nose with aged cherries and cola. Drinking well now. Had at Linda's bday party. |

7/16/05- Had at a tasting here. First bottle was off. 2nd was amazing Affrimed 1996 geniuous. Great buy. Wait until 2010 and kick ass. -- Rare- Conterno made a tiny amount of Barolo in the great 1996 vintage. But what he made is monumental: Daniel Thomases compares the '96 Monfortino to the legendary 1978 Monfortino, and there is little doubt that 1996 Cascina Francia will also rival its 1978 counterpart. For the first couple of years after release, the Cascina Francia's massive structure dominated the hidden core of dense fruit. But now, after 5 years in bottle, the powerful Conterno nose and rich Serralunga fruit is beginning to emerge. Steve Tanzer calls it 'impressively intense and powerfully structured, with penetrating, precise berry and mineral flavors.??? It is a great Barolo by any measure. |

great purple/ruby color, tremendous nose of sweet (candy) red fruit (candy canes!), with big herbal/mineral/petrol overtones. Delicous, balanced taste -- sweet fruit balanced by big acidity and big (but not harsh) tannins. Warm, long finish. Seems ageworthy. |
