Deep red in colour. Aromas of smoke, black cherry, and chocolate. The same on the palate, with high tannins. A really rustic wine.

This is always fun to serve. All the pleasures of a fortified Port, with less alcohol. Juicy, sweet, great dessert wine or aperitif.

Light garnet with browning at the rim. Dried christmas cake fruits; figs, toffee and raisins on the nose. Medium bodied with good acidity. Oddly sweet but dry towards the finish, reminiscent of an amontillado. Stewed fruits on the palate, nuts, raisins and dark bitter chocolate on the finish. Enjoyable.

One of my absolute favorites. I'd like to hold this one until about 2009 when it's 7 years old. Also , acquire a few others for even longer aging.

Ruby red, slight watery bricking at the rim. Interesting earthy nose with black olives, cassis, cedar and bramble fruits. Dry tannins. Woody, flavours; cedar, tobacco and leather with a hint of bitter cherry.

Delicious and earthy with some floral aromas. Still has a ways to go.

colour: clear ruby. slight fade to rim. mature. nose: red berry. fruit forward. not a powerhouse but very pleasant. taste: red berry. very soft with fruity finish. very tasty. red fruit again. not complex and now fully mature this is a great value buy.

Leather, tobacco, long finish. Drank another bottle 3/09. It has come completely into its own. Fully integrated. A wonderful example of Syrah. None of the excess of shiraz, and all of the complexity that the grape has to offer. I am completely wowed by this.

Ruby in color. Forest floor, Mushroom. Strawberry Jam. Medium/Full bodied. Round texture. Long finish.

For any of you that haven'tventured into the Languedoc Roussillon for Syrah based blends (but enjoy Cote Rotie, St. Joseph, Crozes Hermitage and the like), you need to start exploring France from a more southern perspective. This wine flat out rocks, kicking out awesome scents of smoked meat, violets, blackberry liqueur, boysenberry, hot stones and pepper that are to die for. While it is not an overwhelmingly powerful wine, it offers a hauntingly pure presence w/ a bright persona that belies its terroir.
