A very dry, crisp, full-bodied Champagne with rich flavors. It was named 'Special Cuvee' by Jacques Bollinger in 1921 to illustrate that a non-vintage Champagne could be of the same outstanding quality as a tete de cuvee.

Light to medium golden color. A small bead leads the one to aromas of bread dough, Karo syrup, ginger, vanilla, and honey with classic Bollinger flint aromas. Errs on the side of flavor rather than elegance. As a result, this wine is better suited as a "food Champagne". Medium bodied with slightly excessive acidity. A four square workman like Champagne. Drink now but could use another year or two in the cellar to round out.

Exudes honey, with richness and a supple texture. Peach, biscuit and dried orange peel notes add complexity, and the wine glides to a long, lingering aftertaste of honey and brioche. Still a huge wine that needs time. The pinot power comes through as the clearly dominant one. Fun to taste but not at all ready. Wait

Fine depth and complexity in both aromas and flavors. Citrus, ginger, vanilla, whole-grain bread and nut elements combine for a harmonious presentation. Full-bodied, yet sophisticated and lively. A long, luxurious finish.

Light straw in color with fine bubbles. The nose showed honey, almonds, marzipan, and distinct green apple. Medium acidity it seemed a bit oxidized though not unpleasantly so. Flavors of carmel, apple, yeast and more honey rounded out the palate. I wish there were less of us so that we could have had more! So tasty! So much fun!

Wow. Pale straw colour with a hint of cappucino. Excellent mouthfeel, delicate acidity with a very smooth fine mousse. Rich aromas of biscuits and brioche on the nose. Delivers concentrated, continually changing patisserie flavours of toast, caramel and shortbread biscuits that coat the mid-palate. Stays with a very long lingering finish.

Old and musty without any of the expected sprightliness. A good amount of yeast and a heavy finish. Might be an off bottle.

Very nice champagne. Pale in color with a very fine mousse. Loads of toast, sweet pastries, with like a starbucks vanilla/caramel latte flavor. It definately has a wonderful long finish that leaves you wanting more.

Strong roasted palate! But followed by lighter structure. Nice structure and style, I feel it is a lighter version of Grand Annee. Better than 1999 from my feeling. Medium aftertaste.

Citrus, apple and pear flavours. Terrific structure and long aftertaste. Much sweeter than i expected.
