Deep purple in color. The nose is smokey cherry with some minerality. medium high acidity with firm big tannins. Huge fruit appears to be hidden behind the tannins with minerals, cherry and cinnamon making it to the forefront. Long ways to go on this wine. 4.5/5

Breathtaking nose of rose petals, blue berries and cassis fruits. Amazing density and great texture in mouth. Well concentrated and silky tannins. Lasted more than 3+ hours in the decanter and grossly outperformed Leoville Las Cases 2002.

Tasted in 2007 a 1998 Numanthia at John Phillips house. The experience was almost undescribable. Just about the most impressive wine I had tasted up to then and still is today

Very Closed - Need another 5 years before trying another bottle

Nose is creamy, rich and delicious when opened. Wine is closed, but promises much. At 25 minutes it is smooth as silk with dark spice and chocolate and a rich, dark fruit undertone. It just gets better and better. At 90 minutes, it is smooth, rich, complex with a mixture of chocolate, spices, and a long beautiful finish that is creamy with a strong fruit undertone that completes with a rich, but not too sweet finish. Decant at least 1 hour. This wine taste like it could last forever. Each bite of lamb turbocharged the wine.

Deep reddish purple in color. The nose is chocolately with black fruit and deep anise notes. In the mouth the tannins are tight and it needs time to open. Layered flavors of anise, cassis, minerals and smoke. Tasty but still young. 4/5

Deep purple and pure in color. The nose shows vanilla, liqwuorice, dried cherry and light clove. Dry in the mouth with big thick tannins, that show it needs time to air out or age. Rich fruit, balanced with smoke, earth and light allspice. 4.5/5

We had this wine at a Michelin-rated restaurant in San Sebatian, Spain summer of 2007 and it was absolutely fantastic. Cheers to the sommelier. Managed to find a bottle at The Wine Bank on 5th Ave in San Diego last month...We wish that more great Spanish wines make their way into the States in the near future.
