Deep purple in color. The nose is smokey cherry with some minerality. medium high acidity with firm big tannins. Huge fruit appears to be hidden behind the tannins with minerals, cherry and cinnamon making it to the forefront. Long ways to go on this wine. 4.5/5 |

Breathtaking nose of rose petals, blue berries and cassis fruits. Amazing density and great texture in mouth. Well concentrated and silky tannins. Lasted more than 3+ hours in the decanter and grossly outperformed Leoville Las Cases 2002. |

Tasted in 2007 a 1998 Numanthia at John Phillips house. The experience was almost undescribable. Just about the most impressive wine I had tasted up to then and still is today |

My first experience with this winery. Translucent ruby red. Smells like Kahlua, tasted like Kahlua. Some dark chocolate as well. After a couple of hours, some notes of dark fruit did attempt to emerge but so did a distinct bitterness on the finish. The coffee notes are overpowering and there's not much else. Quite disappointed. 50+8+7+16+7=88 |

Dark crimson. Very pleasant floral nose. Slightly muted on entry but develops very nicely into a well balanced rush of fruit. Tannins slightly drying but gives the impression of structure and should age well. |

Deep reddish purple in color. The nose is chocolately with black fruit and deep anise notes. In the mouth the tannins are tight and it needs time to open. Layered flavors of anise, cassis, minerals and smoke. Tasty but still young. 4/5 |
