This wine was definitely lacking in acidity for a long lived Barsac. Drink shorter term. |

After a period of prolonged disjointedness, this wine has pulled itself together. The color is deep straw, and the wine displays an intense perfume of creme brulee, baked apple, and sweet, ripe pineapples and pears. full-bodied, rich alcoholic and fat, with low acidity and considerable sweetness, this is a luxuriously rich, unctuously-textured, heavyweight Sauternes that should become more civilized with age. |

Tasted at EWS 2001 Bordeaux tasting in NYC. All wines were poured blind. Three flights, one of 5 wines, one of 4 and another of 4. Margaux finished 2nd of the 13 wines. This is a monumental wine. Everything you would expect from a classic Ch. Margaux vintage. Such balance, such finesse, sexy, sexy, sexy. Sure it's a little closed now, but the first sip told you this was something special. Run out and buy what you can find! I sure did! 1 of 1 people found this useful |

Dinner with Jeff, Mark and Penn at Cafe Ponte. What a nice surprise! Beautiful wine, silky, sexy, everything you want in a wonderful old bordeaux. Had this with some hard cow's milk cheese after dinner and the flavors just rolled out of the glass. Could go a few more years, but why wait? |

Dinner at home with Cophams and friends. This is a wine that is just short of outstanding. Hints of honey and carmalized pineapples here. There is a bite to the finish though that isn't pleasing. |

Tasted at Grille 29 in Tampa, FL. Color was lighter than expected, showing the expected brown around the edge of the rim. Nose revealed black fruits, anise, and toasted oak. Nice finish at the beginning and end but lacked something in the middle. Silky and smooth, fairly classy but something missing. Tasted against a 78 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill which in this case was showing much better, so will assume my opinion was biased based upon that. Drink this wine now or in the next few years as I don't think it has the legs to go another 10. |

Decanted for 7 hours. After 5 hours this thing was tight as a drum, totally closed for business and very disappointing. And then it relented. The nose is smoky, earthy, full of tobacco, creme de cassis, yet still quite black. On the palate this is massive, black, and closed. Yet there are layers of fruit and extract, dustiness. The finish is tannic, powerful, tight, yet lingering. With a couple more hours this is softening yet at the same time closing. It is a weird, educational experience. 0 of 1 people found this useful |

Interesting aromas. Spice and fruit. Palate is silky and rich, with lots of fruit and a hint of chocolate on the aftertaste. Moderate length. Great bottle of wine for $30. |

Soft (eventually; needs to breathe 30+ mins). Great earthy/leather/mineral nose. |
