2006 Seghesio Family - Zinfandel Sonoma County
USA - California - Sonoma 2006 Seghesio Family - Zinfandel Sonoma County

Nice dark berries and vanilla on the nose. Well balanced mouth feel. Plum, cherries, spice and a hint of earth on the lingering finish. Smooth and effortlessly integrated tannins. Should drink now through the next 6+ years. It's been a few months since I've tasted the 2007, but I think the 06 is drinking as well (or better) than the award winning 07 right now. (note: Tasted without food.) |

Very nice wine. Definite terroir (you can tell immediately that's it's German) and medium-long finish. It's slightly off-dry, so it should really be a feinherb. |

Ruby in color. Medium rim variation. Slow legs. Gooseberry, Red Currant, Prune, Dill, Rose. Medium/Full bodied. Coarse texture. Leathery texture. Long finish. A lot of flowers and fruits in it. Really tasty. Very fine indeed. |

1997 d'Auvenay - Meursault Les Gouttes d'Or 1er Cru
France - Burgundy - Cote de Beaune - Meursault 1997 d'Auvenay - Meursault Les Gouttes d'Or 1er Cru
|
Full of nuances of sesami like oils. Yes oily. Rather a wine made by d'Auvenay than Meursault. Lack of rifinement, I think. After 4 or 5 years of cellaring, you will find the richness of Meursault and d'Auvenay. |

1993 Jayer, Henri - Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux 1er Cru
France - Burgundy - Cote de Nuits - Vosne Romanee 1993 Jayer, Henri - Vosne-Romanee Cros Parantoux 1er Cru
|
A hint of Richebourg with a touch of black mineral. Rather a scent of flowes than fruits. Like the other Henri Jayer, there's some dignity. Aristocratic wine. Very fine indeed. If I have a chance to get it, I will enjoy after 5 or 10 years of cellaring. |

2001 Mugnier, Jacques-Frederic - Musigny
France - Burgundy - Cote de Nuits - Chambolle Musigny 2001 Mugnier, Jacques-Frederic - Musigny

Close now, maybe. Weak scent of flowers, mineral, fruits and UMAMI. In my mouth, a lot of umami in it. So, this is NOT a aromatic wine but a very tasty wine. With a plate of meat, you will really enjoy this. Very fine, but in my opinion, I want more aroma like other musignys. |

1991 DRC - Romanee-Conti
France - Burgundy - Cote de Nuits - Vosne Romanee 1991 DRC - Romanee-Conti
|
At first, I thought this wine as La tache. Black minerals and strong smell of black/red fruit. I felt like a dense fog. Not like other vintages of Romanee Conti, this might be special but NOT odd. Long long finish like other Romanee Conti. |

A nice bargain white. Stone fruit, citrus and a bit of spice. More acid would raise score. |

94-96
RP: Recently consistently scoring in the 94-96 point range. Beautifully sweet, slightly herbaceous black currant, licorice aned earthy notes emerge from this nearly opaque, dark ruby/purple-tingeed 1982. Compared ot the more elegant, femine-stype wine often produceed here, it isa best. Dense, thick, rich concentrated and impressive, it can be drunk now and over the next two decades. |

RP: During its first 10-12 years of life, this was a perfect wine, but it now seems to be in a stage where the fruit is still present, but the previous exuberance and intensity have faded slightly. There is plenty of mber at the edge, and this medium to full-bodied wine shows notes of menthol, cdear, spice box, plums and black cherries. |

RP: THis 1982 is still displaying a beautiful deep ruby/purple hue as well as a stunning set of aromatics consisting of blue and black fruits, loamy earth, flowers, licorice, and spice box. The wine is medium to full-bodied with wsweet tannins, a medium to full-body mouthfeel, and a silky finish. It appears to have hit full maturity, but it can easily be held in a cold cellar for another 10+ years. |

RP: A massive wine that is cearly of first-growth quality in this vintage, the 1982 Gruaud Larose remains a youngster. A broodingly dense, thick, unctuously textured, inky/plum/garnet/purpoole color offersw up scents of beef blood, steak tartare, cassis, herbs, tobacco, and underbrush. One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage (as well as one of the most concentrated Bordeaux's I have ever tasted), it is a huge, full-bodiewd, weighty, rich wine whose tannins are getting silkier and silkier. It appears set for anohter 30-40 years of life. This behemoth is a singuarly profound example of Gruaud Larose that continues to justify its legendary status. |
